Obituary of Ronald E Bowman

Ronald Eugene Bowman, 66, of Cherokee, passed away on October 29, 2019.  Mr. Bowman was born in Swain County on August 23, 1953 to the late Harold Bowman and Alice Wolfe.  Ronald served his country six years in the United States Army as a combat photographer.  He was an engineer technician that designed weapons systems found in many different applications throughout the military.  After serving in the Army he continued the same career path as an Engineer Technician with Aviation Applied Technology Directorate in Fort Eustis, VA for 30 years.  Mr. Bowman was of the Baptist Faith.  He enjoyed photography and was known for his ability. 

He is survived by two sisters, Lou Bowman and Frances McMahan and a very special friend that was like family, Marie Swayney. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Zane Bowman, Harold Bowman Jr., and Robert L. Bowman. 

A funeral service will be held At Big Cove Baptist Church with the Reverend James “Bo” Parris at 11:00am on Saturday, November 3, 2019.  Burial will follow in the Swayney Family Cemetery following Military Rights at Veterans Park in Cherokee.  Pallbearers will be Robbie Bowman, Walker Bowman, Chad Bowman, Craig Bowman, Peanut Bowman, Brock McMahan, Twoleaf Sluder, Elias Husky, Doug Swayney, Nick Swayney, Raymond Swayney, and Earl Martin. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00pm on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the church.  Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the Bowman family with arrangements.
