Obituary of Doug Revis

Joe Douglas Revis, 76, passed away August 18, 2019.  Mr. Revis was born on February 26, 1943 to the late M.B. and Bertie Revis.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Gibson Revis of Whittier.  In addition, he is survived by a daughter Rita Revis of Whittier; a son, Joe Douglas Revis Jr. (Amy) of Rutherfordton and four grandchildren, David, Lauren, Raine, and Evan Revis.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Scott Revis.

Mr. Revis was a graduate of Swain County High School and attended Western Carolina University.  He was a member of Whittier United Methodist Church. 

Services will be held at 3:30, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Whittier United Methodist Church with Reverend Jo Schonewolf and friend and former Pastor Reverend David Baxter officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Swain Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Jerry Harverson, George Rogers, Jackie McGaha, Harry Woods, Bob Marr, Tony Johnson, David Southards, and Kelly Burnett.  The former employees of Revis Hardware Store and volunteers of the Grace House Food Pantry will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Memorial donations can be made to the Friends of the Bryson City Cemetery, PO Box 2223, Bryson City, NC 28713.
