Obituary of Jack Shuler

Jack D. Shuler, 88, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 18, 2019. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Gordon R. and Nancy Ollie Smiley Shuler, and husband of the late Barbara Shuler. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Shuler Watson, and two brothers, Johnny Shuler, and Melvin Shuler.

 

Jack was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church for 30 years, serving as Deacon for 20 years. He was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. Jack was a very talented artist having donated many works of art throughout Swain County.

 

He is survived by one daughter, Debra Shetley and husband Steve of Candler, NC; one son, Perry Shuler and wife Diane of Whittier; one son-in-law, Bill Watson of Lugoff, SC; 11 grandchildren, Tim, Jason, Matthew, Tisha, Shalina, Chelise, Tyler, Zach, Mary Beth, Megan, and David, and 18 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday at Deep Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Cogdill will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at Deep Creek Baptist Church.  

 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church at P.O. Box 597 Bryson City, NC 28713.
