William Bird, 74, of the Snowbird Community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 18, 2009 in Murphy Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of the Snowbird Community, he was the son of the late Solomon and Minnie Rattler Bird. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Teesateskie. He was a volunteer with Snowbird Fire and Rescue for over 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Wachacha Bird; five sons, Jim Bird (Debra) of Robbinsville, John Bird (Debbie) of Robbinsville, Jonah Bird (Emily) of Robbinsville, Jarrett Bird (Emily) of Robbinsville, Ike Bird (April) of Cherokee; five daughters, Carolyn West (Nathan) of Robbinsville, Lillie Bird (Ronnie) of Robbinsville, Encie Bird (Chuck) of Robbinsville, Hattie Owl (Jason) of Cherokee, Judy Bird (Juan) of Robbinsville; 26 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Zion Hill Baptist Church of which he was a member. Revs. John Flute and James (Bo) Parris will officiate with burial in the Bird Cemetery. The body will be taken back to the church at 4:00 p.m. Thursday by Crisp Funeral Home to await the hour of service.
