Obituary of Dr. Angela Marie DiLillo

 

Dr. Angela Marie DiLillo, age 57, passed away peacefully at her home in Dothan, Alabama after a courageous battle with cancer.  A native of Lincoln, Illinois, she was the daughter of Connie and the late Dr. Joseph DiLillo of Bryson City.

 

Angie is survived by her her husband, Christopher Tullier of Dothan, Alabama; her mother Connie DiLillo, sister Kathy Posey (Plato) of Bryson City; brother Mike (Stacey) of Springfield, Illinois; mother-in-law Shirley Tullier, sister-in-law Tammy Hartman (John), brothers-in-law Todd Tullier (Kim) and David Tullier, Jr.  all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; niece and nephew Michelle and James Posey of Bryson City, nieces Kaitlyn, Kylie, Lynden, Landry and Natalie and nephews Kade, Peyton, Trey and Patrick all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

 

Angie was predeceased by her father, Dr. Joseph DiLillo and father-in-law David Tullier, Sr. 

 

Education was very important to Angie and she received an Associate of Arts degree from Lincoln College, Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston, Master of Arts in Education from The Citadel, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia.

 

Angie enjoyed several careers over the years. During a rewarding career as a veterinarian Angie also taught science at Gaston College, graduate veterinary science at the American College of Applied Science and supervised the accreditation of the college.  She was most recently employed as an Accreditation Specialist at the Farley Nuclear Power Plant in Dothan, Alabama where, as a certified instructor, she was responsible for ensuring proper accreditation for the nuclear power plant operations training program.  

 

In addition to her work, you could often find Angie at the Max Fitness Center teaching Zumba.  Her passion was dance and she was a certified Zumba, Zumba Strong and Zumba Gold instructor.  As a veterinarian, Angie loved animals and she rescued and adopted many cats and dogs. She leaves behind her beloved cats Mike and Farley.

 

Angela lived life to the fullest through her caring and giving spirit.  She was a cherished wife, daughter, sister and friend.  She will be sorely missed.

 

Visitation will be held at Crisp Funeral Home on Sunday, May 19 from 5-7pm.  A funeral mass at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church will be celebrated on Monday, May 20 at 10am.  Very Rev. Father Peter J. Shaw will officiate with burial to follow at Swain Memorial Park.
