Obituary of Virgil Edward Hall
Virgil Edward Hall, Sr. 81, of the Franklin Grove Community passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 in a Swain County hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Lewis and Floie Blanton Hall. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran with 20 years of service. He served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He also retired with the U.S. Postal Service and retired with Duke University with 13 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Hall and Ralph Hall; five sisters; one daughter, Elizabeth Lee; and one step son, Leonard King.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Christabel B. Hall; two sons, Virgil Edward Hall, Jr. and wife Carla of Durham, Michael Hall and wife Donna of Durham; one daughter, Kim Compton and husband James of Durham; two stepdaughters, Connie Martin of Forest City, NC, Debbie James of TN; one step son, Tommy Cook of Georgia; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Watkins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
