George Earl Arvey, 81, of Swain County, died, Saturday, November 14th, 2009 in a Jackson County Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Lillie Edwards Arvey. He was a retired woodworker.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Roy and Verlon Jay Arvey, six sisters, and one brother.
He is survived by one son, Keith Arvey of Franklin, NC, two daughters, Linda Whitworth of Troy, VA, and Jamie Mulkey of Carson City, Nevada, 8 grandchildren, two brothers, Wayne Arvey of Bryson City, and Joe Arvey of Lexington, NC, four sisters, Floye DeHart, Shirley Douthit and Clara Neil Arvey of Bryson City, and Dora Carlton of Thomasville, NC, and a special friend, Jan.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. James Cochran will officiate, with burial in the Tabor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
