Obituary of Alan Watkins

Alan Joe Watkins, 74, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday February 23, 2019. A native of Mississippi and longtime resident of Jackson and Swain Counties, he was the son of the late Joseph Watkins and Virginia Varnado, and husband of the late Elizabeth Jean Watkins. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by one brother, Perry Watkins.

He is survived by five children, Deborah, James, Allen Watkins Jr. (Wilma) of Bremen, GA, James Watkins (Christy) of Sylva, and Angie Cochran (Stanley) of Bryson City; four grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Emily, and Catherine, and one brother, Richard Watkins of Mississippi.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dillsboro, NC. Pastor Tommy Ashe will officiate.
