Obituary of Jurnada Laney
Jurnada Beasley Laney, 86, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Liza Bowers and Os Frady.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, her daughter, Linda Sue Laney Wilkinson, her son, Roger Lee Laney, and granddaughters Beverly Laney Kirkland, Kassi Laney Mahan, and Heather Bryson Mallard.
Jurnada is survived by her children, Betty Simonds of Bryson City, NC, Raymond “Doc” Laney of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Russell Laney and wife Susie of Robbinsville, NC; grandchildren, Christie Anthony (Dennis), Linda Driver (John Norman), Karri Laney, Michael Laney, Miranda Laney Panther, and April Thomas (Will); great-grandchildren, Jessica Jones (Taylor Jones), Ashley, Katie, Riley, and Reese Winchester, Kennedy Anthony, Morgan Kirkland, Charaya, Josh, and Silas Driver, Haley and Trent Sims, Alex and Abigail Mahan, Serafina Laney, Brennan Laney, T.J. and Cody Mallard, and Keith Thomas; one great-great grandchild, Avery Jones; her sister Gladys McHan; and several other extended family members.
Jurnada was a member of the Cherokee Church of Christ, and her faith was very important to her. She loved her family and friends very much. She was a talented quilt maker, who enjoyed sewing and doing crafts.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 27th at 2:00pm. These services will be held at Crisp Funeral Home.
Minister Jim Sexton will officiate. Pallbearers will be: David Loftis, Tommy Lackey, Dennis Anthony, Taylor Jones, Trent Sims and Michael Laney. Honorary pallbearers will be: Riley and Reese Winchester, Brennan Laney, and Alex Mahan.
