Uncle Benny was truly a unique individual. Some may have called him a gruff old mountain man,,a recluse even. But he had his soft side too. Just last fall we went to visit him. As he walked with us to the top of the hill to our car, he walked bent over. He stopped to rest a time or two. And then still stooped over, he stopped to get something out of the weeds growing on the side of the dirt drive. It was just a little yellow weed of a flower. When he sat down on the guard rail, he said " I don't know what it's called but it's pretty". I will never forget that. As we drove off with him still sitting there, I saw him wipe his eyes. Maybe it was a tear. God love you , Uncle Benny.
