Don was a wonderful person who, with Suzanne, made my sister and me very welcome in their home in the summer of 1980. They were the epitome of hospitality and grace. Don taught us how to water ski, and they both shared their love for the area taking us to many beautiful places. I was happy to be able to introduce my daughters to Don and Suzanne during their golden wedding anniversary, when again they took us in like family. My most recent memory is of their visit to Pennsylvania, with Don patiently making movies of my youngest dancing endlessly to The Nutcracker. Don was very special to me. May he rest in peace.

Dear family and friends,
I was so honored to be Donald and Suzanne's postmaster for 17 years. I loved and enjoyed our times of fellowship. They were both dear and beloved residents of Whittier.
May God comfort you and preserve your many fond memories.
Love in Christ.

We send our sympathy to all who grieve at the passing of our good friend Don Bunn. He was a strong support to our First Baptist Church, the community where he lived, as well as the state and nation. A delightful friend, loved by all who knew him. We miss him and his entire family. Our love to all.

May “Uncle” Donald Rest In Peace as he is joined with his family in heaven. Although not my Uncle by blood, I will always remember how he taught my son to drive a Segway. Just a small example of his giving and selfless nature. God Bless and condolences.

Members of Don's family--Please accept my condolences. Don was a neighbor during my boyhood, someone with whom I played golf on numerous occasions, and he and Suzanne exemplified what it means to be giving and committed citizens. Both of them made major contributions to the betterment of Swain County.

Don was a lovely man who made everyone feel instantly welcome and at ease. I’ll never forget the golf cart ride my sister and I took with him. We stood on the back and hung on while Don took us on a whole tour of the area! He was a delight to interact with, and he will be missed.
