Obituary of Geneva Garrett

Geneva Nations Garrett, 96, of Greer, SC, departed this life for her heavenly home on August 19, 2018 at White Oak Manor at North Grove in Spartanburg, SC. Geneva was born in Ravensford, NC on February 28, 1922. She was the second of six children of the late James and Bessie Nations. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greer SC. Geneva owned and operated Garrett's Beauty Shop in Andrews, NC for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Grady Garrett of 64 years and her sisters Flora and Charlotte Nations. She is survived by her son Jim and wife Kitty Garrett of Cape Canaveral, FL, daughter Connie and husband Lynn Fleming of Greer, SC, one grand-daughter Amy Fleming Holcomb and two great-grand daughters Morgan and Erin Long. She is also survived by a sister Helen Evrett of Ooltewah, TN, a brother Weldon Nations of Robbinsville, NC, a sister Frankie Sheehan of Whittier, NC, a special niece Nina Metcalf of Hertford, NC, a special family friend Shirley Milliman of Andrews, NC, several nieces and nephews and her puppy Lacie. Geneva and Grady's home and heart were always open to relatives and friends of the family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family greatly appreciates the love and care shown to Geneva by the entire staff of White Oak Manor in Spartanburg, SC. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on August 22, 2018 at Crisp Funeral Home chapel in Bryson City, NC officiated by Rev. John Tagliarini. The graveside service will be at Swain Memorial Park, Bryson City, NC, following the funeral service. Pallbearers are Jerry Evrett, Charlie Nations, Shane Cooper, Robert Byrum, Corey Holcomb and Erin Long. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
