Obituary of Leonard Ray Kirkland

Leonard Kirkland, age 62, of Bryson City died Saturday, May 12, 2018. Leonard was born in Bryson City and was a lifelong resident. He owned and operated Kirklands Logging, Inc. Logging was his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara Kirkland; brothers, Roy (Faye) and Jerry; and sister, Jessie Mae (Joe). Surviving him are his wife, Patricia Lambert; sons, Matthew and daughter Morgan, Jason (Aleisha) and daughter Kendra Jae. His "grandbabies" were his world. He is also survived by three brothers, Lyle (Cindy), Michael (Angela) and Dewayne (Melinda); three sisters, Dorothy, Donna (Roger), Rachel, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his son, Jason, friend, Michael Sherrill, and employees, Adam Sherrill, John Ledford, Michael Kirkland, David Price and Michael Cochran. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Roland will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Special thanks to WNC Cancer Care, Harris Regional Hospital, Memorial Mission Hospital, and John F. Keever Solace Center.
