Obituary of Vance Winchester

Vance Winchester, 93, of Bryson City went to meet his Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 5, 2018. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Luke and Talitha Winchester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Tom Winchester; and two sisters, Eva Wiggly and Dayle McHan.
He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. He was a hardworking God fearing Man.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Violet Winchester; six children, Kathy Kinsey and husband Ronnie of Cashiers, Sandy Morgan and husband Bob of Tuckasegee, Arlene Burns and husband Henry of Bryson City, Ervin Winchester and wife Cindy of Bryson City, Michael Winchester and wife Dee of Colorodo, Angie Winchester of Bryson City; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Ronald Owens and Justin Ledford will officiate with burial in the Sawmill Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
There will be a dinner following the graveside services.
