Obituary of Alda Wilson
Alda Nettie Palestine Woodard Wilson, “Granny”, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Born July 3, 1930 to Bryant and Oma Woodard she lived most of her life at her home on Alarka. Alda was a lifetime member of the Alarka Church of God, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She spent the last 13 years as a resident of Mountain View Manor Nursing Home.
Alda was married to Woodrow Wilson, the love of her life! She is survived by her children, Linda Wike (Ronnie), Lambert Wilson (Jenny), Laverne Wilson, and Lorri McDowell (Adam); 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren: a brother, Frelin Woodard; several nieces and nephews, and Mary Miller her Mountain View Manor roommate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Worley and Vannie Woodard, her husband, sons J.W. and Raymond Wilson.
Alda was a homemaker, an avid gardener, and devoted Christian. She loved singing in Church and playing the Guitar. She was dedicated to her family and always put them first. As a resident at Mountain View Manor she was everyone’s “Granny”.
A celebration of life will be held at the Bryson City Church of God. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Church. The funeral service will be Friday, March 23, at 1:00 PM with the Revs. Linda Wike, Marty Pressley, and Mark Sale officiating. Burial will be at the Mason Branch Cemetery with the Revs. Dale Green and Eugene Moore conducting the services. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Great Grandsons, and Great Great Grandsons.
Music will be provided by Cody Shuler (Great Grandson), Laci and Chris Nations (Great Granddaughter), Eddie Dixon (Caretaker), Betty Barnes (Special friend), and Linda Wike (Daughter).
A special thank you is extended to the Caregivers at Mountain View Manor. The Manor had become Alda’s home and the caregivers her family.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Linda Wike Ministry at Mountain View Manor. Donations can be sent to Linda Wike 654 Union Hill Road, Whittier, NC 28789 to be used to refurbish the Beauty Shop at Mountain View Manor and for her Sunday Morning services.
The family will gather at the home of Linda and Ronnie Wike at the above address.
