Obituary of Beulah Elizabeth McLean

"Cotton" Beulah Elizabeth Sutton McLean peacefully drew her last Earthly breath and received her Angle Wings at 1:00 AM Christmas Eve. She was born April 18, 1934 in Swain County, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband James E.J. McLean; mother, Dorothy Fuller Owle; step-father, Oscar Owle; sister Rosie Stepp and biological father Harley Sutton. Cotton is survived by her son, Ray McLean and partner Melanie McLeod and her daughter, "Cookie" Dorothy Walker and husband Johnny Walker, Also Jill Gregory who is like a daughter to her and Ron Cole a special person and close family friend; Two grandchildren, Gracie and James Walker; three awesome great granddaughters, Tracy Michelle, Seraphina Nicole and Morgan Kathleen. She worked for Singer Furniture until it closed, then at Bryson City Steak House for several years before being hired as a cook for Mountain View Manor. She considered it a privilege to work with so many wonderful people especially the Three Musketeers, Pat Bowers, Rachel Sutton and Mary Burrell. She took pride in preparing and serving meals to all the residents and staff and occasionally their family members. It became her second home and they were her extended family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Crisp Funeral Home. Cotton will be cremated and her family will have a private burial of her ashes at a later date. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice or to the Rathbun House, 121 Sherwood Road Asheville, NC 28803.
