Obituary of Donnie Winchester

Donnie Winchester, 67, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in a Swain County Hospital. A lifelong resident of Swain County, he was the son of Jean Strauss Winchester of Sumter, SC and the late Fred Winchester.
He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era in Korea.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carrie Smith Winchester; son, Chad Winchester of Ohio; and two sisters, Ellen Calloway and Betty Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Dale and Ercell Green will officiate. Burial will be in the Sawmill Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Bryson City VFW Post 9281.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
