Obituary of Mary Ethel Chambers-Hyland

Mary Chambers Hyland, resident of The Hermitage in Sylva, went to her Heavenly Home on October 21, 2017. She was 88. Mary was born in Fulton, Mississippi to Paul and Ethel (Sumners) Smith on July 12, 1929. She married J.R. Chambers of Swain County, NC in September 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She married Dan Hyland of Buffalo, NY in 1993 and Dan passed away in 2013. Mary is survived by two sons, Ron (Mary) Chambers of Dillsboro, NC and Steve (Laura) Chambers of Hickory, NC; three step children, James Hyland of Concrod, NC, Timothy Hyland of Niagara Falls, NY, and Ann (Hyland) Kensy of Buffalo, NY; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, October 28th from 2 to 3 pm at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City. A graveside service will follow at Lauada Cemetery. The Rev. Rusty Wolfrey of Victory Baptist Church in Sylva will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lauada Cemetery Fund, 1166 Franklin Grove Church Road, Bryson City, NC 28713.
