Obituary of Barbara Caren Robinson
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Rogers Robinson, born June 7, 1955 of Bryson City NC passed peacefully on October 4, 2017 at her residence in Bryson City surrounded by family and friends.
Barbara was 62 at the time of her passing. She was a Bryson City native and lifelong resident.
Barbara was an active member in the Swain County community and made great strides in improving the town she treasured so much. Her hard work and many years of service to the Swain County Democrat Party earned her the Liston B Ramsey Service Award in 2015. Barbara was very artistically talented, most notably in watercolor painting where she used her talents to convey her love for nature and our beautiful mountain scenery. Several of her painting have been publicized and displayed throughout WNC.
Some of Barbara's favorite memories were made traveling and spending time with her girlfriends Teresa Leatherwood, Kim Williams, and Kathy Grant. These women had an unmeasurable bond which provided them a lifetime of friendships, support, and countless memories to savor.
Barbara also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Austin and Audrey. They were the light of her life and provided the strength and inspiration for her to be able to battle so courageously in her later years.
Barbara spent over 20 years of her life as rural mail carrier for the USPS. She thoroughly enjoyed her work there, serving her community while building deep and long lasting friendships with her colleagues and also with many of the families she encountered on her routes.
Barbara was a devoted Christian woman. Her generous spirit, steadfast faith in God, and overwhelmingly positive attitude was an inspiration to her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Scholarship Committee as well as the Flower Committee.
She is survived by her son Casey Davis, his wife Carrie Davis, and two beautiful grandchildren David Austin Davis and Audrey Danielle Davis, and brother Alvin White.
She was preceded in death by her late husband's David Davis and Bob Robinson, her mother Gertrude Rogers, and Father Jack Rogers, and her brothers Dean White and Wendell White
