It is unusual for a daughter to leave a condolence for her father, but it's been a year now that my Daddy's journey to his Heavenly Father began. March 28, 2017 was Daddy's first seizure. I was not aware of this event until the next day when my Mother took him to the ER in Swain County. When my sister contacted me I was overcome with grief because I knew it WAS the beginning of the end, and it was. Six weeks of anguish watching my Daddy drift away was difficult to comprehend when he had been an independent strong willed man.
Our family was there for him every step of the way, and I am so very thankful for a Mother who stuck by her husband, my Daddy, through thick and thin, but most of all she was his nurse until the very end.
I thank God for the beauty He blessed us with in our final days with Daddy. Most of all, I thank God for the shortness of my Daddy's fading away. Six weeks seemed like an eternity, but really if could have been 6 months or even 6 years, but God was so good to him and to our entire family. So, as we are coming up on May 13th the one year anniversary of Kermit Dewitt Allen's departure from here to there I hope it touched someone's life and has helped them be prepared to meet their Heavenly Father as he was ready to meet his. I miss him terribly, but not enough to want him back to this world when I know where he is, and that makes me want to be there too.
God thank you for the earthly Father and Mother you have blessed me with for the 52 years I had my Daddy, and may my Mother's days ahead be filled with strength, continued independence, and knowing she is loved.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Connie Allen
