Bobby Ray Hayes Sr. (River Rat), went home to be with the Lord, Sunday May 7, 2017. Bobby was born on January 13, 1947.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Hyman and Freda Lowe Hayes. Also a daughter Peggy Jean Hayes and four brothers Tommy, Jack Dempsey, James, Charles, and two sisters, Hazel Richardson and Ellen King.
Bob was a deacon at Rock Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Pepsi Cola. He is survived by his wife Peggy Hayes and one son Bobby Ray Hayes Jr. and one daughter Carla Hayes Passmore and husband Greg Passmore. He has three grandchildren, Travis Hayes and wife Whitney, Melissa Hayes Bodfield and husband Clifton, and Brody Hayes. He has six great grandchildren, Carter Hayes, Kenadie Hayes, Samuel Hayes, Kaylan Cochran, Rylee Bodfield, and Aubrey Bodfield, and two sisters Katharyn Cody and Bertha Bryant.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dale Cloer, Jamie Clark, Larry Bryant, J.R. Cody, Vic Bridges, James Wiggins, John Allison, Trent Crisp.
