Obituary of William Ronald Roland
Cherokee Dateline
William Ronald (Willie) Roland, 69, of Tsali Manor went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his residence. A native of Swain County, he was the son of Marie Hensley Roland of Waynesville and the late Kelly Roland. He was the past Governor of the Waynesville Moose Lodge. He was a US Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Johnston Roland; one son, Gary Roland and wife Ruth of Maggie Valley; three daughters, Cynthia Middleton and husband Joe of Hendersonville, Leslie Hill of Lake Lure, Rhonda Payne of Clyde; one step daughter, Stacie Morgan of Asheville; four sisters, Norene Sutton of Crabtree, Sandra Roland of Waynesville, Charlene Mull and husband Carl of Lake Logan, Pam Singleton and husband Tommy of Waynesville; two brothers, K. Neal Roland and wife Linda of Waynesville, James Roland and wife Clara of Waynesville; 10 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Eight grandchildren will be pallbearers.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Roger Roland and James Roland will officiate with burial n the Birdtown Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post 143, Cherokee, NC.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
