Judy Ernestine Smith Morgan, 78, of the Alarka community passed away peacefully at home February 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born January 25, 1946, to the late Jackson Arthur Lee Smith and Neal Billie Jenkins Smith. Judy was a Kindergarten teacher at East Elementary in Swain County until her retirement. She married her husband Morris Andrew Morgan “Andy” on July 26, 1998. Judy loved to find a deal and was well known for her finds at the local thrift shops. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister June Cochran. She is survived by her husband, Andy Morgan; daughters: Shauna Waldroup, Jillena Owle (Shane) both of Bryson City; a son, John David Downs of Andrews NC; 6 grandchildren: Breanna “Brooke” Bailey (John) of Robbinsville NC, Mikayla “Kayla” Smiley (Aaron) of Gastonia NC, Robert “Bobby” Waldroup (Alyssa) of New Mexico, Kimber Owle of Gastonia, John David Downs Jr (Jayla) of Marble NC, and Briana Downs of Murphy; three great-grandchildren: Lyla and Tucker Bailey, and Calum Downs. Judy was a member of East Alarka Baptist Church and attended Church at Bear Creek Church in Robbinsville NC. After her retirement she and Andy traveled the US. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home at 2pm. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the services. The Reverend Wayne McGuire will officiate. Burial will follow at Brendle Hill Cemetery
