Larry “Gene” Jenkins, 76, of Bryson City passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home of congestive heart failure. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Dolly Ensley Jenkins. He lived in Del Rio, TN for 14 years. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. He was a rock mason. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Jenkins of Del Rio, TN; brothers, Clifford, George, Wade, Willard and Clarence (Pete) Jenkins; and sisters, Gladys Tallent (Tootie) and Ruby Wiggins. surviving brother Leroy Jenkins (Bonnie); nieces, Tammy Jenkins of MT, great niece Katherine Buchanan; great nephew, James Buchanan of MT. He is survived by his wife and caregiver of 36 years, Betty Jenkins; step son, Lucas Greene (Kim); granddaughter, Autumn Greene; brother,; nieces, Mary Collins (Jon) of Mt. Airy, NC, great niece/granddaughters, Alyssa Collins, Kayla Hyde both of Mt. Airy, NC, and brother-in-law, Harold Greene (Ruby) of OR. Many nieces and nephews of Bryson City and Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Tim Barker and Eddie Stillwell will officiate with burial in the Blankenship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
