Obituary of Vernon LeRoy O'Dell

Vernon LeRoy O’Dell, 87, of Whittier passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021. A native of Michigan and longtime resident of Whittier, NC, he was the son of the late Marvin James O’Dell and Hazel Irene Carter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald O’Dell; one sister, Delores O’Dell, and two brothers, Raymond O’Dell and Roland Carter. Vernon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda O’Dell; daughters, Katherine Cipriano (Steven), and Dana Thomas (Benjamin); son, William O’Dell (Carmen); grandchildren, Brianne Cipriano, Sean Cipriano, William O’Dell Jr., Drew Cipriano, Ian O’Dell, and Leighton O’Dell; Many other children that he loved, Sunday Pruitt (Richard), Carla Lytle (Quinton), Katherina (Ken) DeRico, and several others; a sister, Louise Sansbury, and a brother, Erwin O'Dell (Susan). A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Webster Baptist Church. Brother Scott Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Wednesday at the Church. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation by going to Parkinson.org Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the family.
