Earl Wayne Fortner, 75, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 25, 2021. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Johnnie H. Fortner Sr. and Nellie Cochran Fortner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Renee Fortner, and his siblings, Reba Jean Fortner, Jimmy Richard Fortner, and George Lee Fortner.
Earl was a US Army Veteran having served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Fortner; children, Duke Fortner, and Carla Fortner; grandchildren, Makayla Jenkins, Hailey Jenkins, Dylon Fortner, Hunter Fortner, and Edge Fortner; siblings, John H. Fortner Jr., Joyce Faye Ball (Sue)and husband Robert Ball, Janice Joann Pyles, Henry Harley Fortner, and Wayne Fortner, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Max Cochran will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
