I grew up in Lauada within walking distance of King's Grocery located at the "Y". After high school, I had to leave Swain County to find work. That meant coming home only two or 3 time a year. During those visits, I would visit Henry and Lois a time or two to get a newspaper and some gas, and also some of Henry's sweet taters if he had any left.
After Mom died, I lost my connection with the goings-on in the community. Now, I periodically check the BC obituary, usually to be saddened by what I find. The video tribute to Lois (and Henry) was wonderful. I do believe, as Lois believed, there is an existence much greater than the world we have known. God bless the family of Lois and Henry. Psalm 91. So sorry for your family at this time. She was a great lady and I loved caring for her in her final years. What a fine family she has.

What wonderful people your parents were. Both of them. Your mother and I had a special bond, we could and did talk about everything. I’ve spent a hour getting a loaf of bread and enjoyed every minute of it. There were times when we were young that a trip to Henry’s was the best part of my day! So sorry for your loss!

Love and Prayers to David, Sandy, Elizabeth, Mike, and all the family!
I know the last years have been so hard. She is at peace now in her heavenly home.
For those who grew up in the Saw Mill Hill Church, Lois will forever be remembered for her beautiful voice in the quartet. I know that Troy, German, and the Preacher were waiting for her to get to heaven!
Love, Teresa Parton Hasenauer

David, Sandy, Elizabeth, Mike and family,
I'm so sorry for the death of your loved one. I pray that you will lean on God at this difficult time. Lois did have a beautiful alto voice. She was used by God. I'm thankful for all she done while at Sawmill Hill church.
Love and Prayers,

I am not sure who wrote this lovely obituary for Lois King, but its tone was as gentle and flowing with love as Lois herself. Yes, she drove my school bus, and she sure did have to stretch those little legs of hers to reach the accelerator for sure. There is no doubt that David, Elizabeth and your family have been a through a tough year with loosing your Daddy, and now in such a short time your Momma. May you feel the prayers of others as you say good-bye.
Sincerely,
Connie Allen
