Reverend James Gunter, 79, of the Barkers Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 19, 2021. A native of Jackson County he was the son of the late Gardner and Romola Gunter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Marvin, and Infant John Gunter, and two sisters, Peggy Epling and Infant Patsy Gunter.
James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Gunter; two children, Connie Stiles (Mark), and Patricia Wellman (Brian); four grandchildren, Jeremy Stiles (Desiree), Jessica Hensley (Brad), Daniel Wellman, and Kimberly Wellman; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters, Jean Brown (Myrl), Darlene Burch (Jimmy), Anne Hoyle, and Judy Aiken, and one sister-in-law, Linda Gunter.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Michael Gunter will officiate with burial at Barkers Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
