Obituary of Reverend Daniel Howard Chisholm

Rev. Daniel Howard Chisholm, age 80, passed away on February 1, 2021, at his home in Bryson City North Carolina, surrounded by his wife, children, and family. Dan Chisholm was born on November 5, 1940 in Daytona Beach Florida to Donald R. Chisholm and Doris I. Chisholm. He was the first born of twin boys, and his brother, Donny was his best friend for life. Together they made life interesting and fun for both family and friends. On March 20, 1962, Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and accepted God’s call into the ministry. He graduated from Toccoa Falls College with a BS in Bible and Theology in 1969, and immediately began serving as pastor to churches in Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Both brothers served as pastors with the Christian and Missionary Alliance for more than 70 years combined. He and Myrle retired in 2009 and made their home in Bryson City, North Carolina. His hobbies included Reading, NASCAR and collecting model cars. Dan is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane D. Richards. On August 18, 1959, Dan married the love of his life, A. Myrle Taylor. Their children and spouses include Tad and Angie Chisholm, Cyndie and Alan Finney, and Dawn and Tim Smith. Dan and Myrle were blessed with 6 grandchildren, Jonathan A. Finney, Amber Chisholm Wilkerson (Matt), Jennifer Finney Carson (James), Christopher B. Chisholm (Megan), Katie Smith Gillespie (Scott), and Timothy Kaleb Smith. They also had 12 great grandchildren, Gracie, Mattie, Bryson, Nathan, JT, Beau, Avery, Eli, Fischer, Jaxson, Kollins, and Callan. Dan is also survived by his twin brother Dennis D. Chisholm (Martha), Sister and Brother in law, Ron and JoAnn Reinolds, sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 1:00PM at Bryson City First Baptist Church. Reverend Ferrell Towns and Dr. John Tagliarini will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 1:00PM, prior to the service. Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the Chisholm Family.
