Horace Willard Grey Burns, 77, went home to be with his wonderful wife Lynn Burns on February 8, 2023. He was the son of the late Robert and Willa Lakey Burns and preceded by nephew, Dale Seay. Hoss was an Army Veteran and served with the peacetime Army in France 1966-1967 and Germany 1967-1968. Hoss followed construction work for many years. Before retiring he worked with McCrary Stone. He grew up fishing and hunting in the Smokies. These were his favorite past times. His little dog Caramel provided comfort during his days of sickness, but many years of happiness. He is survived by one son, Jeff Burns of Asheville. Siblings, Bobbie Burns of Bryson City, Henry (Arlene) Burns, Lucinda (John) Quinnett of Bryson City, Walter (Christina) Burns of Clayton, GA, Mitchell (Mary Sue) Burns of Cullowhee; beloved nephews, Jerry, Tripp, and Travis Seay, nieces, Jessica and Jesslynn. Many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be, Bud Breedlove, Jerry Seay, Tripp Seay, Travis Seay, Brad Burns, Tanner Burns, Braxton Burns, and Steve Lambert. Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers, Henry, Mitchell, and Walter. A remembrance of Hoss’ life will be held on Friday February 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Harris will officiate with burial to follow at Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. A heartfelt thanks to niece Susan Hicks who dropped everything to come and care for Uncle Hoss. We will never forget what you did for him and us.
