Whittier Dateline Hazel Odiear Polson, 64, of the Conleys Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 14, 2010 in a Jackson County Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Arzele Barker Odiear and wife of the late Jack Polson, She is survived by three children, Faye Cabe of Whittier, Curtis Polson of Sylva, Jeff Polson and wife Vicky of Sylva; four grandchildren, Chris and Brittany Cabe, and Isabella and Zackery Polson; seven great grandchildren, Chris Cabe, Jr., Allie Cabe, Elliott Cabe, Anthony Cabe, Harley Wiggins, Sadie Wiggins, Lonnie Wiggins; four sisters, Louise Stevenson of Bryson City, Ethel Messer of Whittier, Katherine Walker of VA, Frankie Sutton of Bryson City; and one brother, Robert Odiear of Whittier. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Conleys Creek Freewill Baptist Church of which she was a member. Revs. Lelon Greene and Eric Jones will officiate with burial in Holly Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
