Jeffrey Lackey, 43, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Wednesday September 9, 2009 at Duke University Medical Center. A native of Swain County, he was the son of Don and Joan Wright Lackey. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Jeffrey loved to travel, spend time with his family, and was an avid NASCAR Fan. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mack and Ruby Wright; paternal grandparents, Tom and Mamie Lackey; and his nephew, Micah Green. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sherri McMahan Lackey; one sister, Donna Green of Wake Forest, NC; one brother, Rickey Lackey of Franklin; four nephews, Seth and Luke Green, Mack Lackey, Miles McMahan; many aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends; and two cats, Louie and Mack. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Deep Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Cogdill will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
