Obituary of Vernell Coday
Vernell Brooks Coday, 84, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday February 20, 2019. Vernell was born on Chambers Creek in Swain County to the late Lloyd and Lela Garland Brooks. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leahman Coday Sr., and two sisters, Opal Brown, and Beatrice Waldroup.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Coday of Bryson City; two sons, Leahman Coday Jr. and wife Lisa of Bryson City, and Phillip Coday Sr. of Bryson City; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two nieces, Jamie Winchester (J.T.) and Vida Cody (Scott), and a “special sister”, Louise Thomas.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at Lauada Cemetery in Bryson City, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Sunday at Crisp Funeral Home.
