Obituary of John Arnold Robbins

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rev. John Arnold Robbins of Bryson City caught a ride on angel wings February 13, 2010. Born April 7, 1922 to Alexander and Hattie Grant Robbins, Mr. Robbins was the oldest of thirteen brothers and sisters. A native of Swain County, he called Mountain View Manor his home away from home for the past five years. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain View Manor for the wonderful care he and his late wife, Margie received. Mr. Robbins was a retired Baptist Minister, carpenter, and logger. Building a church from the ground up with the help of his late wife Margie and many friends was a great accomplishment. He especially enjoyed preaching, hosting singing groups with many after church dinners prepared by Margie. An avid gardener, he and Margie enjoyed living on Hwy. 28 South during the summer months and raising a garden. He raised his children in the old fashion way, passing along his wisdom, his love of God, and hard work never hurt anyone. "We will miss him" Clifton, Norma, Vivian, and Delores. The family will have a visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Crisp Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held later at Grant Cemetery on Silvermine.
