Obituary of Louise Edwards Stephenson Willis

Louise Edwards Stephenson Willis, 86, of Bryson City took her first flight Tuesday, December 4, 2018. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Naomi Carson Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Stephenson, second husband, McKinley Willis, and her son, McKay Stephenson.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Lynn Cochran and husband Curtis, Dennis Stephenson and wife Joanne, and Shelda Calhoun and husband Wayne all of Bryson City; grandchildren, Tony Cochran and wife Michelle, Travis Cochran and wife Dana both of Bryson City and Matthew Cochran and wife Melea of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Taylor, Mackenzie, Hunter, Bailey, Ann Marie, Katelyn, and Tyler; and her siblings, John and Earl Edwards of Bastrop, LA, Yvonne Gregory of Winfield, MO, James Edwards and Joan Shelton of Bryson City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of which she was a member. Revs. David Watkins and Keith Stephenson will officiate with burial in the Sawyer Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm Saturday at the church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tony and Travis Cochran, great grandsons, Hunter, Bill Carter, Michael Lindsay and Mark Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Stephenson and Ronald Jones.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Harris Regional Hospital, Four Seasons Hospice, and Mountain View Manor.
