Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia A. DeBord went home to be with her savior and Lord and many loved ones on Feb 9th at her home in Bryson City. She is survived by her husband Martin DeBord, by her daughter Karen Crisp Torda and her husband Mike Torda, by her son Greg Crisp, his wife Sarah DeHart Crisp, their daughter Tiffany Crisp Walker, her husband Charles Walker and their children Isabella, Henry, Jacob, and Dakota. Virginia grew up in the coal-mining community of Wise, VA, the youngest and last surviving of 9 siblings of the Luther and Della Amos family. She moved to Oak Ridge, TN where she met and married Olin Crisp of Bryson City while they were both working on the Manhattan Project there. Olin preceded her to heaven in 1968. Virginia worked at the Swain County Dept of Social Services for many years where she enjoyed her role of helping people. After retirement she worked with her son Greg at his business, Performance Automotive, for over 10 years, also enjoying meeting and serving the people she came into contact with there. In 1981 she married her friend Martin DeBord of Bryson City. They remained best friends and sweethearts for 37 years. A celebration in her honor, including dinner at her request, will be held at Camp Living Water on West Deep Creek Monday Feb 12 at 4pm at Volunteer (dining) Hall. Everyone who loved her is graciously invited. Casual dress is encouraged. The meal will be provided by the family and Midway Baptist Church. Rev Clayton Davis of Maggie Valley will conduct the memorial, and some of Virginia's favorite songs will be sung by Cindy Woodard and family of Bryson City. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Camp Living Water at the address below. This ministry has long been dear to her heart, and she spent many happy hours serving there. Blessings and joy to all! Camp Living Water 1510 W Deep Creek Rd Bryson City NC 28713
