Obituary of Barbara Truett Monteith

Barbara Ann Truett Monteith, age 83, of Atlanta (Dekalb), GA., died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her home after a 30 year battle with cancer. Born in Bryson City, NC, she was a member of Northeast Baptist Church for over 49 years where she was very active including teaching Sunday School, was a choir member, youth leader and music teacher. She was a retired elementary school teacher in Tucson, AZ., Pheonix, AZ. and Beaumont, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Annie Mae Marr Truett, her sister, Carolyn Gray and is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John A. Monteith, Jr. of Atlanta, her loving canine companion, Princess, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carol Monteith of Atlanta, daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Donald Warren of Woodstock, Michelle and Mike Hollis of Stone Mountain, her five grands, Shelly Spurgeon, Anna Monteith, Thomas Warren, Tiffany Warren, Michael Monteith, Jr., her three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several cousins and nieces. Her funeral will be Friday, February 2, 2018 at 12 noon at Northeast Baptist Church, Atlanta with Rev. Jonathan Spencer and Rev. Phill Nall officiating, Burial will follow on Saturday in Swain Memorial Park, Bryson City, NC following a service at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Bryson City, NC. after a viewing from 11 am until 12 noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Northeast Baptist Church, 4046 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, GA, 30340. Condolences may be left at www.billheadfuneralhome.com.
