Joseph Edward Almond Sr.
Joe Almond passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017. He was a native of Swain County and was the son of the late Gove B. Almond, Sr. and Ethel McCracken Almond. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and also served 27 years as a volunteer on the Bryson City Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jack Almond and Jr. Almond.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Cole Almond. Children: Eddie Almond (Lawana Cooper Almond), Ann Almond Howell (Bill Howell). Grandchildren: Will Howell (Jean Ann Howell), Courtney Almond, Ashley Almond (Bambi Persinger).
He is also survived by one brother, Jim Almond of Decatur, Georgia.
Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at First Baptist Church in Bryson City with Dr. John Tagliarini Officiating. Burial will be at Swain Memorial Park in Bryson City.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM Saturday at the Church.
