Obituary of Harold Lowe
Harold Loyd Lowe, 70, of Bryson City, entered into the Haven of Rest on Wednesday morning, August 23, 2017, at a skilled nursing facility.
A native of Swain County, he was preceded in death by his parents, General George Washington Lowe and Nellie Jane Lequire Lowe, one brother, George Douglas Lowe, and one sister, Ann Marie Lowe Jones. He is survived by his wife of 52 years and the love of his life, June Wiggins Lowe, his only son, Harold Robert Edwin Lowe and wife Audreyana Joan Nesbit Lowe, and one granddaughter, his “little rosebud” Serenity Rose, all of Bryson City. Also surviving are four sisters, Helen Lowe Boone of Candler, Ruby Lowe Jones and husband Fred Jones of Wilmont, Jean Lowe Davis of Bryson City, and Rachel Lowe Messer and husband Harrison Messer of Bryson City. Two brothers, Clifford Lowe of Carrollton, Georgia, and Thurman Lowe and wife Linda of Hildebran also survive. He leaves countless nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He spent several years as a logger, nearly a decade as an employee of the Town of Bryson City, and the majority of his career as a factory and a textile worker. He was a devoted Christian, strong prayer warrior, and a member of the Bryson City Church of God, where he attended as long as he was physically able.
Receiving of friends will be at the church from 7-9pm on Friday, August 25, with the funeral at 2pm on Saturday, August 26. Revs. Marty Pressley, Dale Green, and Eugene Moore will officiate with burial in the family plot at the Sawmill Hill Cemetery. His nephews will be pallbearers.
