Obituary of Connie Lynn Smith

Connie Bowers Smith, 62, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in a Swain County Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Geraldine Barker. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Max Thomas; and her grandparents, Dan and Fannie Bowers. Connie was a member of the Stecoah Fire and Rescue and a dedicated member of Sawmill Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tom Smith; three daughters, Trina, Laurie and Carrie Smith; one granddaughter, Izabel Neugin; three grandsons, J.T. Neugin, Nicholas Thompson and Toby Thompson; one sister, Deborah Eng; her twin brother, Ronnie Bowers and aunt Laurie and her brother, Ira Thomas and wife Annabelle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Sawmill Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Gerald McGaha will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home where Connie will remain until placed in the church 1 hour prior to the service.
