Obituary of Wanda Irene Smith

Irene Hampton Smith, 78, of the Alarka Community, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday December 17, 2016. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Chester Hampton and Mary Hyde.
She was a member of the Whittier Church of God.
Irene is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Ed Smith; two sons David Smith and wife Deloris of Bryson City, and Dennis Smith of Bryson City; three grandkids, Crystal McFalls and husband Brian of Sylva, Courtney Haynes and husband Zachary of Sylva, and Devin James Smith of Franklin; four great grandchildren, Lindsey Smith, Evan McFalls, Tyler McFalls, and Chase Haynes; one sister Shirley, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Whittier Church of God. Revs. Ned Pressley and Shane Silvers will officiate with burial in East Alarka Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Church.
