Stanley Louis Sieveking, 83, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 25, 2016. A native of Bronx, NY, and longtime resident of Bryson City, he was the son of the late Linus and Alma Erb Sieveking, and husband of the late Norma Elizabeth Roberts Sieveking. He retired as a Senior Chief Torpedoman in the U.S. Navy with 21 years of service. He served on five subs including U.S.S. Triton on which he participated in the first submerged circumnavigation of the Earth in 1960. After he retired from the Navy he worked many years at the Whittier Post Office. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Stanley is survived by his wife of 17 years, Retha Cook Sieveking; one daughter, Marcia Watson and husband Nat of Bryson City; two grandsons, Eric Watson, and Michael Watson and wife Lynee both of Bryson City; eight step children, Terry Hughes and partner Ken Krasney of Pompano Beach, FL, Robert Hughes and wife Linda of Oak Ridge, TN, Stephen Hughes and wife Janet of Jacksonville, FL, John Hughes and wife Sally of Columbus, OH, Tammy Orr and husband Ted of Todd, NC, Pamela Laughlin, Rick Stephenson and wife Dawn, and Travis Stephenson and wife Carla all of Bryson City, NC, and many grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Caney Branch Rd. Bryson City. Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the family.
