Jean Conley Heffner, age 97 of Bryson City, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16th. Born in Andrews, NC, Mrs. Heffner was preceded in death by her parents, Wymer and Catherine Batten Conley, her brother, Hall Conley of Marietta, GA, and her husband, Jake Sherrell (Bob) Heffner. A former teacher at Bryson City Elementary School, Mrs. Heffner was an active member of Bryson City Methodist Church. Survivors are her children, Bruce Edwards of Ithaca, NY, Judy Heffner Hipps (Barry) of Bryson City, and Mike Heffner (Sharon Ensley) of Lexington, NC. She is also survived by her three granddaughters: Sun Edwards (Lloyd) of Wilseyville, NY; Kari Manley (Zach) of Leicester, NC; and Alex Heffner Conrad (David) of Charleston, SC. Her great grandchildren are Zayin Edwards, Harlyn Manley, and Scarlett Conrad. Visitation will be Friday, November 19th from 5 – 7 pm at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City. Funeral services will also be at Crisp Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 20th with Reverend Wayne Dickert officiating. Burial will be in Bryson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bryson City UMC, PO Box 817, Bryson City, NC 28713; to PAWS, PO Box 1814, Bryson City, NC 28713; or to the charity of one's choice.
