Obituary of Vergie Mae DeHart

Vergie Shook DeHart passed away on October 2, 2016 at the age of 93. Vergie was born October 14, 1922 to the late Rufus and Mamie Stalcup Shook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph William DeHart, two brothers, Robert and Charles; sisters, Faye Hutchins, Lucille Pennington, Ruth Watson, Aileen Livingston, Jean Almond and Margaret Breedlove.
Vergie is survived by her sons Ralph L. DeHart (companion Kathy Long) and C. Michael DeHart (Beverly); six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and sisters, Lillian Hipps, Carolyn Green and Marie Green.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City with visitation one hour before. Rev. David Green will officiate. Burial will follow at Swain Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care Partners Hospice, 68 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville, NC 28803.
